As reported by news networks including CNN and NBC, Stryker, the Michigan-based manufacturer of medical equipment and technology, has suffered a cyberattack.

The incident began on March 11 and appears to be the result of actions by an Iran-linked hacker group known as the Handala Team, which expressed responsibility for the attack.

Supply Gap Analysis

Stryker has confirmed to customers in three separate messages that it is experiencing a global network disruption due to a cyberattack.

The company states there is no indication of ransomware or malware and believes the incident is contained to its internal Microsoft environment only. Products such as Mako, Vocera, and LIFEPAK35 have been described as safe and operational.

The company says it has visibility into orders entered before the event and that those orders will be shipped once system communications are restored. Orders received after the event are being reviewed, and Stryker is working to restore its electronic ordering system.

Cato customers are reporting that new electronic orders to Stryker are not getting through.

What Health Systems Can Do Now

Cato has seen similar disruptions in the past. In May 2025, Cato helped several hospital systems find alternate supplies when a cyberattack on Masimo significantly disrupted manufacturing and order fulfillment, causing production to operate below capacity and hindering shipment of sensors and patient monitoring products.

In October and November 2023, Henry Schein experienced significant disruptions to its ecommerce and ordering systems for several weeks due to a cyberattack by the BlackCat ransomware group. Earlier in March 2023, Essendant experienced a two-week disruption to its order system due to a ransomware attack.

So far, only a disruption to Stryker's order management systems has been reported, with no announced impact on production capacity.
